an owl

November 8, 2010

Here is a picture of her owl costume with a little more detail.

November 4, 2010

I was so excited for Addie’s first Halloween!  I’d searched and searched for the right costume but when I finally found it, it was sold out.  😦  So, I decided to strap on my creative hat and come up with my own version.

What I wanted to get:

(Pottery Barn Kids)

And here is what I came up with:

I don’t have full body shots yet (waiting on Mimi to send them to me!)

half a year (and only one picture)

October 29, 2010

***I’ve only got one picture for now.  Sorry grandparents!***

First I’d like to say I can’t believe I haven’t blogged in soooo long!  Whoopsie!  And second, I can’t believe that our sweet girl is SIX MONTHS OLD (I say this every month)!  Good grief.  If the second half of the year goes as quickly as the first, I should probably just start packing her up for college.

So what has changed in the past month?

At her 6month check up Addie was 18lbs 12 ounces and 29 inches long.  She is in the 99th percentile for height and 92nd for weight.  BIG BABY!

Addie can now roll both ways with ease.  In fact she can roll to where ever it is her little heart desires.  (Note to self: Baby proof.)

Addie is working on crawling…but it is hard for her to get the front half and back half to do what they need to do at the same time.  So, basically we have some army man crawling forward and some inchworm maneuvers going backwards.

Addie has also been able to master sitting up this past month!  It takes a second to get her stabilized but then you can let go and she will sit there for a minute or two. (Or until something out of reach catches her eye)

Addie has eaten all the stage 1 foods and is working her way through stage 2.  She still LOVES sweet potatoes and squash but doesn’t give 2 hoots about bananas.   Her new favorite food is the puffs.  She’s tried the green veggie ones and sweet potato.  She prefers the veggie one!  Also we are trying to eat yogurt every day…sometimes she’s feeling it, other times not so much.

We have moved her up to a ‘big girl’ car seat instead of the infant carrier and she loves it.  So much more room to wiggle around in!  Also, she now sits in the shopping cart (I stick blankets on either side to keep her stable still) and loves her shopping cart cover.

We joined a playgroup a couple months ago but Addie is really starting to enjoy herself when we go.  She loves looking and interacting with other babies!

well hey!

October 19, 2010

Hey!  Sorry I haven’t blogged in like, oh, 5 years.  I’m working on Addie’s 6 month post but in the meantime I wanted to let you know that I’ve taken the tumblr leap.

And yes.  I SHOULD be cleaning right now.

5 months!

September 24, 2010

This post is a little late because, well…Addie keeps me BUSY!

Addie is 5 whole months now. I can’t believe it! (I think I say that every month) This past month has brought so many changes to her.  She weighs around 17-18 lbs, 28ish inches and should be in 9month clothing..and wears some 12 mo PJs.  (She barely fits but I’m trying to squeeze every inch and ounce out of her 6 mo before moving up! Momma is cheap!)

She is eating all kinds of foods now. So far she has tried sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, avocado, peas, green beans, apples, bananas, peaches, and some combos of ‘broccoli, pears and peas’ (doesn’t that sound disgusting? she liked it but it made her gassy!), ‘pumpkin, apples, sweet potatoes and blueberries’ and ‘pumpkin and bananas’.

Her favorites are sweet potatoes and squash. She tolerates apples and bananas when mixed in her oatmeal but she isn’t much into the fruit or any sweet stuff which is a good thing I suppose. She HATES carrots. Here is a dramatic video of her eating them if you are bored and want to see my child eating carrots: (and hear my annoying voice)

She also loooves these crackers called Mum Mums.  We have only had the original flavor since she isn’t really into bananas.

Addie can now roll both ways and can almost sit up on her own.

She is trying to crawl but hasn’t gotten her legs coordinated enough to do so.  (Which is good since we still haven’t baby proofed!)

Addie can also use the regular stroller now with out any problems.  Here she is before a walk with Daddy.

Addie is such a joy to us and we are loving every second with her!

it’s september!

September 2, 2010

It’s finally September!  And while here in Texas it won’t feel like Autumn for several weeks (or a couple months…) I’m so ready to get all the Fall stuff underway.  I want pumpkins out and good smelling candles and a new wreath on the door.

What else reminds me of Fall?  Sweet potatoes.  In honor of that, here is a video of Addie trying them for the first time.  (Pardon my annoying voice and the sound of laundry drying- baby clothes with all those snaps are LOUD!)
